Volgens het artikel verbetert maaisel de structuur van de bodem, vergroot het de bodemvruchtbaarheid en zorgt het voor het beter vasthouden van water. ‘’Al na vijf jaar was het percentage organische stof in de bodem verdubbeld’’, vertelt boer Jan Coppelmans in het tijdschrift. Coppelmans benut maaisel dat afkomstig is van de beekoevers van het naburige beheergebied van waterschap De Dommel. Het maaisel wordt vervoerd naar het bedrijf van Coppelmans, dat op enige afstand van de beek ligt. Hoewel juist die arme, hoger gelegen zandgronden wel wat organische stof kunnen gebruiken, vormt juist dit vervoer een juridische ‘punaise in de schoen’ voor het op grote schaal toepassen van circulair terreinbeheer.
